Born in West Wales, her career at sea actually started at the tender age of 12 with entry to a Naval college; HMS Conway, a Merchant navy officer training establishment. Although she had been in and around boats from the age of 4. Her first command being a 12 ft Sailing dingy.
Her career took her to sea at age 14 in the merchant navy, moving over to the Royal Navy and serving as helicopter pilot during the Falklands campaign in her Royal Navy Reserve role. Back to the Merchant Navy and changing to the engineering department before starting her work in the Yachting sector in 1998.
After 30 plus years at sea in both Commercial shipping and latterly yachts serving in deck and engine room positions she left the sea as a Chief Engineer. Pippa came ashore and set a company called YachtProjects International offering services to owners, captains, management companies and shipyards. She has good working knowledge of Class, Flag, IMO and SOLAS requirements. Services include Project Management, day to day site management, financial control of project and consultancy for specifications and design for refit, repair and new build projects. In the past 17 years her clients are very diverse and projects have ranged from 25m simple refits to 200m new build consultancy.
Pippa also owns a second company; ProCom65 which is aimed more at the commercial shipping sector and focuses on the communication side of the business. The company has become the go to company for vessels and management who require that exceptional, personal touch solution and the products that are championed are chosen for similar reasons. Many are internally developed with the extraordinary solutions in mind that often appear to come over Pippa’s desk. People come looking for our solutions as our reputation is to deliver beyond the call of duty
Although Pippa is work driven she enjoys spending time with her American wife Kim and their children and grandchildren. Now based between the South in the UK and North Florida she spends time traveling to Europe and in deed where ever her clients are.
Known for being the fun at the party there is always a very serious and conscientious person inside.
Recent achievements include winning the VSAT Stellar Executive of the Year Award, due in part, to an outstanding service offered to an extremely prestigious client; Victor Viscovo onboard DSSV Pressure Drop and the FiveDeeps Project (due to be aired shortly on the Discovery channel) The communications package broke all “known’ rules.
